Who is Suzanne Clark?
Suzanne Clark has had a long and storied career with the US Chamber of Commerce. This was even before she became the first woman CEO of the organization. Suzanne Clark received both her BA and her MBA from Georgetown University.
She first began working for the US Chamber of Commerce in 1997. In 2007, she left to work at various private sector companies.
In 2014, she was named executive senior vice president. She subsequently became the president of the Chamber in 2019. In 2021, Suzanne Clark became the first woman to lead the US Chamber of Commerce as CEO. As CEO of the Chamber, Clark leads the organization’s various initiatives and chooses what issues it chooses to address.
Clarke is also currently a member of the boards of Transunion, So Others Might Eat, Agco Corp, and St Patricks Episcopal Day School.

What Is The US Chamber of Commerce?
It might surprise you to know that the US Chamber of Commerce is a lobbying organization. In 2018, it spent more than 94 million dollars trying to pass its various initiatives and lobby for its causes.
It was first founded in 1912, by then-President Taft, in order to represent the interests of businesses in the United States and to combat the efforts of the pro-labor movement that was thriving at the time.
The Chamber currently aims to promote job creation in the United States and to advance various causes that help businesses throughout the country continue to grow and thrive, even in difficult times such as during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chamber of Commerce has, unfortunately, faced many controversies over the years. It’s traditionally thought of as a right-wing organization, with the exception of its much more liberal stance on immigration policy in the United States.
The Chamber failed to acknowledge the causes of climate change until 2019 and advocated for expanding domestic oil production despite the damage it can cause to the planet.
However, under Clark’s leadership, the Chamber is working more closely with Democrat leaders in government than they had previously, particularly on recent trade agreements.
