Every ID card needs a clear front facing image. There are several parameters the employee must follow for the picture of his or her card. For example, no sunglasses, no hats or caps. These recommendations seem obvious, and there are some others that can be considered some subtle and sometimes ignored.

A good picture needs to be taken with a clear and solid background. It is usually blue or white. This background will allow you to see the outline of the person and to avoid overlapping shadows. Some companies tell their employees not to smile since the picture needs to show a neutral face. Make-up can be worn but not heavily, and accessories also have to be kept to a minimum.

  1. Choose the right material

The material of the ID cards is of the utmost importance. Some ID cards are required to withstand severe weather conditions. Some other ID cards are meant to be used indoors and under light conditions. These factors have to be considered when choosing the material.

If the ID card is for an indoors event only, the material can be soft and disposable. A one-time-use ID card will suit your purposes just fine. If the card is meant to be worn at all times in different locations and conditions, it is better to have a more durable material. Hard plastic is a usual choice among producers. It gives the bearer the opportunity to have a long-lasting card that can fit multiple purposes and be replaced only after several years.

  1. Customize your lanyards

Many ID cards have to be worn with a simple lanyard from the person’s neck. This is the easiest way of having the card in a visible place. Lanyards can be customized so that it adds an extra security element to the whole ID card system. Having a special lanyard that matches the company logo can be a plus when it comes to security.

Customized lanyards also give the employee the opportunity to choose their favorite color or design. As long as the company agrees on certain color combinations or printed lanyards, employees can choose to wear the one pleases them the most.

  1. Colors are also important

The color combination chosen for the ID card is also of great importance. Many companies choose to match their image colors to the ones of the cards. This way it will be even easier to identify personnel.
