
Julie Fraser, Principal, Industry Directions
Julie Fraser is a recognized industry analyst, consultant and marketer,
specializing in manufacturing and distribution strategies and application
solutions. Fraser's reputation and expertise in supply chain, plant floor,
integration, and e-business software solutions has kept her in demand
as a leading advisor, speaker, and consultant.
She has written the Perspectives for Midrange Enterprise since 1998.
Previously, she was a founding columnist for Advanced Planning and Scheduling
(APS) magazine and wrote a column on supply chain for APICS: The Performance
Advantage. Her published articles on e-business, MES, supply chain, and
manufacturing issues have also appeared in e-com, Electronic Buyers News,
Semiconductor International, Manufacturing Systems, Managing Automation,
Software Strategies, START, Semiconductor International, and Solid State
Technology magazines.
Fraser has 16 years experience as a manufacturing systems industry influencer.
Her background includes, prior to joining Industry Directions, a position
as VP Marketing for Baan Supply Chain Solutions. Prior to that, she was
the Senior Analyst on Manufacturing Execution Systems and Integration
at Advanced Manufacturing Research (AMR). Fraser was the editor-in-chief
of the CIM Strategies newsletter from the mid-80s to the early 90s. That
built on her previous experience in production operations for a discrete
industrial goods manufacturing.
Fraser has a degree with honors from Lawrence University in Wisconsin.
She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, APICS and CASA/SME, and has also served
on boards for the local Massachusetts CASA/SME chapter.
